WebSMS from Maxis
The new value added service provided by Maxis seem interesting at first…it is so called Maxis Websms service..
Summary of this services
- SMS from Web (Internet) to only Hotlink & Maxis subscribers phones. (012, 017, 0142)<—-how about MNP?
- You login into the specified website and start sending SMS to your Maxis friend.
- You use normal chat style to send SMS to your friend for free**.
- Your friend replies will be sent back to this chat dialogue box for 15 cents.
- You have only 3 free WebSMS to send per day and you can open an account per user.
- However, you can send another SMS after he replied you.
- One reply gains another SMS to send out to him/her which interpreted the meaning of “Free”.
Where to register and more details about it?

My opinion?
- I won’t want my friend to get charge RM0.15 per sms to reply me on WebSMS by Maxis unless they are willing to…however most people will not be aware of it.
- They will tend to reply on the same number and chat like normal which end up spending more for the intented users.
- Maybe if they send the SMS back to my mobile phone but it will defeat the purpose of this service.
Good side of Maxis WebSMS?
No frustration of sms using mobile keypads and can have a chat room style messaging.
It’s free as long as 3 SMS per day and your friend replied you.
Able to text your friend while charging your phone.
Your gain is your friend’s loss<—-mind you they are being charged higher~!
Bad side of Maxis WebSMS?
Charging 15 cents which is much lower if same network is concern for SMS.
Only for Maxis networks.
Limited to only 3 messages per day.
Have to find ways to remember my friend’s mobile numbers to be keyed in.
Experience Windows Live Messenger with Digi- Unlimited Chat on phone

DIGI- One of Malaysia’s telecommunication operator has promoted a new mobile service for it’s mobile phone subscribers which I think is quite economical for those who spend a lot of time chatting online with Windows Live Messenger. Chatting on-the-go with Window’s Live Messenger that requires a monthly fees of RM 3!!!
Data Charges?
Digi’s advertisement claimed that only a monthly fees of RM3 is required to use the service and no additional data charges with be charged! That means Unlimited online chat to US! <—not sure is it true but will know after i received my bill next month! Until then, i will believed it is true.
What’s the difference between other Windows Live Messenger mobile phone services?
Digi’s Windows Live Messenger services that caught my attention is the waived GPRS/EDGE/3G data charges for subscribers. This is the different with all other types of windows live messenger services. See the below table for more details.

How to subscribe?
Just SMS MSN to 2016 (works in Malaysia only) and you will receive a SMS website link to subscribe and download the Windows Live Messenger mobile application software through WAP. After the download, you can open the application and log into the Windows Live Messenger account as usual. You may see a detail instruction in Digi’s start up guide here.
Say no to expensive GPRS charges if you are not on unlimited data charges plan~!
My opinion and experience? Ya, it feels the same with the PC’s version of Windows Live Messenger~! Cool especially when someone message you, you get the same “Message Alert Sound”. By the way, I experience using it with the SE W910i. One disadvantage is that I cannot minimize or multitask when I am using the Windows Live Messenger mobile application.
